Leadership Development – Building Confident and Influential Women with Disabilities

MOWADITA believes that true inclusion means women and girls with disabilities are not only seen—but also heard and respected in leadership and decision-making platforms. Through our leadership development initiatives, we nurture the potential of women with disabilities to become strong advocates, leaders, and role models in their communities and the nation at large.

Leadership Development

We empower women with disabilities to take up leadership roles in their communities and beyond. Through training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we strengthen their confidence and capacity to influence decision-making spaces.

🔹 Leadership and Civic Engagement Training

We conduct tailored leadership training sessions that focus on:

  • Public speaking and communication skills

  • Understanding governance structures and civic rights

  • Conflict resolution and negotiation

  • Decision-making and critical thinking
This equips women with the knowledge and tools needed to lead confidently in both formal and informal settings.

🔹 Mentorship and Role Modeling

MOWADITA connects emerging leaders with experienced women mentors—many of whom have navigated leadership despite facing challenges. Through this mentorship:

  • Women are inspired by real stories of resilience

  • They gain practical guidance on how to enter and navigate leadership spaces

  • They build lasting professional and personal networks

🔹 Encouraging Political and Community Participation

We encourage women with disabilities to run for leadership positions in:

  • Local government councils

  • School boards and community committees

  • Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) and civil society spaces
We provide them with the confidence and strategies to compete fairly and advocate effectively.

🔹 Amplifying Voices Through Networks and Platforms

MOWADITA creates and strengthens platforms where women with disabilities can:

  • Share their experiences and challenges

  • Advocate for inclusive policies

  • Represent their peers at local, national, and international forums
This builds collective power and visibility for their concerns.

🔹 Confidence and Self-Esteem Building

At the heart of leadership is self-belief. We focus on:

  • Empowering women to embrace their identities with pride

  • Overcoming stigma and negative societal attitudes

  • Celebrating their achievements and contributions

Through Leadership Development, MOWADITA is shaping a new generation of women leaders with disabilities—resilient, visionary, and ready to drive positive change.
